Your Holiness,
Beloved Holy Father!

As faithful of the Catholic Church, devoted to Our Lord Jesus Christ and gazing at His Most Holy Mother – Queen of Peace, we wish to thank Your Holiness from the depths of our hearts for your pastoral guidance in these troubled times. At the same time, we dare to make a humble but fervent request – for the official establishment of the Devotion of the Five First Saturdays of the Month for the entire Universal Church, as an act of reparation for sins against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Holy Father,
Pope Francis responded with courage to the first part of Our Lady’s message at Fatima by consecrating Russia to her Immaculate Heart. It was a momentous step in response to the heavenly call. We believe that it is your Holiness who can now complete this great work by fulfilling the second part of Mary’s request, by promulgating and calling for the universal practice of the devotion that Our Lady requested to be established.

In her Fatima message, Mary included a warning against dramatic events – war, famine, persecution of the Church and the suffering of the Holy Father. But at the same time she gave us salvation – a specific program of spiritual rebirth: the consecration of Russia and the Communion of atonement on the first Saturdays of the month.

Today, although many Catholics privately undertake the practice of the Five First Saturdays, still too few people know and understand the importance of this devotion. Therefore, we ask that the Devotion of the Five First Saturdays be officially established for the entire Church, and that its meaning and content be announced through a papal message.

Your Holiness,
In your first homily after your election to the Chair of Peter, with power and simplicity, Your Holiness pointed out that in a world that increasingly rejects the Gospel and mocks faith, a Christian cannot flee – he must bear witness that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the living God. It is in such a world – wounded by sin, confusion and the crisis of meaning – that the message of Our Lady of Fatima becomes even more relevant.

Mary promised: “If you listen to my prayers, Russia will be converted and there will be peace.” We deeply believe that the fulfilment by the Church of the second part of her request – the establishment of a devotion in reparation for sins against Her Immaculate Heart – will contribute to a true spiritual rebirth and the desired peace that so many today dream of and that so few are able to build.

Your words, Holy Father, about the Church as a beacon in the midst of darkness and an ark floating on the waves of history, call us to action. We want this lighthouse to shine even brighter through a faithful response to Mary’s message – by proclaiming the devotion of the Five First Saturdays as a practice of the entire Church.

For our part, we wish to support Your Holiness in this groundbreaking step. We commit ourselves to prayer, frequent recitation of the Rosary, and personal participation in the First Saturday Devotions. We wish to make reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary – first for our own sins, and also for the sins of all humanity.

As humble sons and daughters of the Church, we ask you, Holy Father, to hear our request and accept the assurance of our constant prayer for your intentions, for the Holy Church and for the whole world.

In Jesus Christ,
Your children in faith

Let us fulfil Mary's request - the devotion of the Five First Saturdays of the Month

At Fatima, Our Lady gave the world a message that contained both warning and hope. She predicted wars, famine, persecution of the Church and the suffering of the Pope himself. Mary then offered us concrete instructions on how to prevent these terrible events: she expressly requested the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart and the Communion of reparation on the first Saturdays of the month.

Pope Francis responded to Mary’s call by consecrating Russia. Now, during the pontificate of Pope Leo XIV, the Church has the opportunity to fulfil the second part of the heavenly request: to officially establish the devotion of the Five First Saturdays for the whole Church.

Mary desires our hearts - let us fulfil Her request

Many Catholics around the world already undertake this devotion in a private form – on the first Saturdays of five consecutive months, they go to confession, receive Holy Communion, recite one part of the rosary and meditate on its mysteries for 15 minutes, offering all this in reparation for sins against the Immaculate Heart of Mary. However, it still remains the personal practice of a few believers. We wish – in the spirit of obedience to Our Lady – that as many of our brothers and sisters in faith as possible could join this devotion. This would enable its official establishment as a general Church practice.

If Pope Leo XIV officially establishes this devotion throughout the Church, it will be the best proof of acceptance of the Message of Fatima and of the call to conversion. We therefore appeal to the new Pope to respond to the call of the Immaculate. Faithfulness to Our Lady will open the gates of grace and peace for which we ask so much today.

ABOUT THE INITIATIVE

The earlier version of the appeal was addressed to Pope Francis and was signed by over 26 000 Polish and English speakers.

After the beginning of the new pontificate, the request was updated and is now addressed to Pope Leo XIV – as a continuation of the joint request to establish the Devotion of the Five First Saturdays of the Month for the entire Church.
